My Old Victorian House for Sale
Steps and Porch coming along.
The north steps were first. Poured concrete footings where there were none before.
Our new electric service had just been installed.

George and I installing the east steps. New clear redwood shiplap siding. Expensive, even then. But all the siding
and trim on this old house was made of gorgeous redwood. Porch floor badly deteriorated. Ditto for the railings
and stiles. They all had to go.

The railings are history. Dad and daughter Kristin are installinng new clear doug fir tongue and groove
porch floor. Couldn't find the correct thickness for the flooring at Home Base (anyone remember Home Base?)
or Close Lumber, so all 294 pieces were custom planed to thickness and milled with the Shopsmith in the basement
workshop. Ditto for all the rails and stiles. I made a lot of shavings that year!

But now we are making progress!
